Application and Selection Process

Our selection process is designed to help you show your personality, strengths and what you can bring to the Orientation Team.

Step 1: Interest Meeting

Attend an interest meeting to hear from professional staff and former Orientation Leaders about what it means to be a part of our team.  You will learn more about key dates, expectations and the position. Attendance at an interest meeting is required in order to apply. A digital recording of an interest meeting can be made available upon request. All interest meetings will be held on-campus on the following dates:

  • August 26 at 4 p.m. | Russell House 303
  • Sep. 9 at 10 a.m. | Russell House 303
  • Sep. 18 at 5 p.m. | (VIRTUAL)
  • Sep. 24 at 6 p.m. | Russell House 305
  • Sep. 26 at 1 p.m. | DMSB 142

Step 2: Apply

Complete the application on Handshake and the additional questions via the application link. This is an opportunity to tell us who you are, what you bring to the table and why you are excited to be an Orientation Leader.

Step 3: Group Interview

Selected candidates will join other applicants in activities observed by professional staff, Team Leaders and campus partners to see how you work in a team setting. Participation in a group interview is required to move forward in the selection process. All group interviews will take place on campus on the follow dates:

  • Dates: Oct. 13, 14 and 15
  • Attire: Gamecock spirit (garnet, black and school pride!)

Step 4: Individual Interview

Selected candidates will have the opportunity for a 30-minute individual interview to discuss your experiences, enthusiasm and approach to the OL role. Not all applicants will advance to this stage.

  • Dates: November 3-11
  • Attire: Snappy casual

Step 5: Selection

Decisions will be shared mid-November via the email you provided. If you are not selected, you may request feedback by emailing orientation@sc.edu. orientation@sc.edu
