Leadership Program

Undergraduate students in the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program help solve real-world problems and impact change through hands-on experiences, leadership development and campus-wide event planning.

Join the Program

The Application to join the Sustainable Carolina Leadership Program in Spring 2025 is now closed. The application for Fall 2025 will open in March 2025. There are multiple ways to engage with the Office of Sustainability outside of membership in Sustainable Carolina - consider volunteering in the Garden, following @SustainableCaro on Instagram, and check out the new Eco Ambassadors Program!

Students in Sustainable Carolina work on dedicated project teams to plan events and raise awareness of sustainability issues on campus and in the community all while receiving one-on-one leadership coaching from our staff. From teaching local elementary school children about sustainability to promoting zero waste initiatives on campus to leading volunteers in the Sustainable Carolina Garden and more, we have an opportunity for every interest.

Why Join the Program

Students in the SCLP develop leadership skills through hands-on, practical experiences. Regardless of their major, all students develop an understanding of how sustainability relates to their career and educational goals. These experiences help increase employability after graduation.

Graduate with Leadership Distinction

The leadership program gives students the opportunity to complete the requirements for Graduation with Leadership Distinction (link to GLD on USCConnect website), whatever their discipline or interests.

Employability Coaching

Students in SCLP participate in one-on-one coaching with staff members where they set goals, discuss their progress and plan for life after graduation.
