Bio

Matt Fryman earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, where he received the 2026 Outstanding Dissertation Award in the Social Sciences, and holds a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. A retired U.S. Army Colonel with more than 30 years of military service, his research focuses on American politics, civil-military relations, military readiness, and public administration, with particular emphasis on political polarization's affects on veterans and the role
of senior military leaders in American democracy.

Additionally, Matt is the graduate program recruiter for the department. Programs include the MPA program, Masters of International Studies, and the PhD. program.
