Pre-Orientation Academic Advising

Welcome to the University of South Carolina! An essential component of New Student Orientation is your introduction to your academic college, academic advising, and course registration for your first semester at USC.  On this page, you will find helpful information and resources to help you understand and prepare for your Pre-Orientation Academic Advising experience.

What is Pre-Orientation Academic Advising?

Pre-Orientation Academic Advising allows for students to meet one-on-one with their academic advisor prior to attending New Student Orientation.  During this appointment an academic advisor will learn more about you and your academic goals at USC, as well as support you through the course selection and registration process. Attending your academic advising appointment and registering for classes before attending New Student Orientation allows you to engage more fully in the activities and community-building experiences of your in-person Orientation.

Find a step-by-step guide to prepare for orientation, advising, and class registration below.
