South Main Street
Four blocks of South Main Street, from the South Carolina Statehouse and Pendleton
Street to Blossom Street, received makeover during a streetscaping project that finished
in 2025. Utility lines were buried and landscaping have made it a more inviting place
for pedestrians.
Project Details
The work on South Main, coordinated by the South Carolina Department of Transportation,
will bury existing utility lines under the sidewalk and roadway as well as narrow
the traffic lanes to one each way. Trees and bike lanes will be added as part of the
project as well.
