Where might you find a Gamecock this summer? This year, 12 University of South Carolina students have secured national fellowships to fund an exciting summer of beyond-the-classroom experiences.

Two USC students earn DoW SMART Scholarships

Engineering students Sean Bowker and Ella Harshyne will receive funding for tuition, education related fees and summer internships. Through their summer internship, the SMART Scholars will be mentored by experienced Department of War scientists and can put the knowledge they've developed in their coursework into practice.

A Rhodes scholar embodies academic excellence, strong collaboration and leadership skills, and dedication to working for the good of humanity — all of which describe South Carolina Honors College student and public health major Hannah Brennen. Her research and involvement in the Columbia community throughout her academic career have her poised to become USC's 11th Rhodes scholar and first since 2016.

Two University of South Carolina students were awarded prestigious Goldwater scholarships Friday. They are: Linden McGregor, a junior biomedical engineering major from Lexington, Kentucky, and Michael Pitre, a junior BARSC-MD candidate from West Sayville, New York.
