Student Organization Funding

The Office of the Student Body Treasurer manages Student Government's internal finances, and assists student organizations in securing funding assistance through Student Senate.

How to Apply for Funding

At least one representative from the student organization must have attended the Treasurer’s Workshop during the current fiscal year, and the request must be submitted through Garnet Gate.

Your request has to comply with Student Government codes, meet the published deadlines, and be submitted at least 15 University Days before the event. Requests for events that have already happened generally will not be considered, except for limited exceptions in the codes.

You need accurate cost estimates backed by quotes, invoices, receipts, or other supporting documentation, plus information about the event, such as attendance, scope, and why the funding is needed. If your request is for a program, tournament, or conference, Chapter 3 of the Codes lists additional required information and cost limits.

The request should be complete and accurate when submitted. A comptroller may edit or adjust the request, in conjunction with the student organization, during the editing phase to make sure it matches the guidelines.

All requests are reviewed by a member of the Treasurer’s staff, the Treasurer, and the Student Senate Finance Committee. The committee can approve, partially approve, or deny the request.

If approved, your organization must spend the funds only for the approved purpose and follow any category-specific limits. The codes also prohibit certain costs, like alcohol, travel in some categories, gift cards, private lessons, and other excluded items.
