Interprofessional Education for the Health Sciences (IPEHS)

The mission of USC Interprofessional Education for the Health Sciences (IPEHS) is to be leaders in preparing health professionals skilled in effective interprofessional practice through synergistic educational and experiential activities that enhance the interprofessional learning of students in the health sciences at the University of South Carolina to improve the health and quality of care for the diverse populations we serve. IPEHS education is guided by the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) core competencies.

  • Topic: The Use of Illicit Drugs: Unmasking the Threat and Exploring Emerging Drug Trends
  • Content: Join us for a session where we learn about the latest trends of the use of illicit drugs. We will explore how patients get these drugs, what they might be called and where they might originate. We’ll have a case that includes a patient in a rural area and the social drivers that impact that patient’s health.

  • Topic: Collaborating for Patients: An Interprofessional Workshop on GBS, CIDP, and MMN
  • Content: Join us for an interactive workshop featuring patient stories and health professional perspectives regarding specific autoimmune peripheral neuropathies. You will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative discussions with presenters and other health professional students and explore future opportunities to work with people with neuromuscular disorders.

  • Topic: An Interprofessional Approach to Antimicrobial Stewardship
  • Content: Join us for a session where we learn about the importance of antimicrobial stewardship and how all members of the healthcare team are needed to ensure that our patients understand this important issue. The clinical background of this topic will be explained as well as practical approaches that can be supported by the entire treatment team. We’ll have a case scenario to explore which will include the social drivers that impact our patients’ health around this issue.
