and graduate education. She will pursue a postdoctoral fellowship after completing
pharmacy school and is currently preparing for her fourth year, which consists of
nine advanced pharmacy practice experiences in a variety of practice areas. She will
be in Hawaii for her very first advanced pharmacy practice experience in May!
Asheley loves helping other students feel more confident in accomplishing their goals
throughout graduate school. Work-life balance is also a big passion of hers, and she
is motivated to help others incorporate it into their lives. Asheley enjoys anything
fitness/wellness-related, social activities, and trying new experiences. She would
love the opportunity to meet with you and get to know you!

Sarah Deloach
Sarah Deloach (she/her) is a Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering. As part of
the Potts Lab at the Floyd School of Medicine, her research focuses on the development
of novel therapeutics for heart failure and sepsis. She graduated from the University
of South Carolina with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and is originally from Walterboro,
South Carolina. She also serves as a teaching assistant for the Biomedical Engineering
Department and the South Carolina Honors College. In her free time, Sarah enjoys training
Brazilian jiu-jitsu, learning languages, and spending time with her pets.
Sarah is passionate about helping students find the resources and support they need
to succeed both in and outside the classroom. As a first-generation college student,
she understands how challenging it can be to navigate college life, especially when
taking on new responsibilities and unfamiliar challenges. She hopes to share the advice,
experiences, and resources that helped her along the way. Sarah particularly enjoys
helping students figure out which study strategies work best for them, build confidence
in their academic abilities, and develop more effective approaches to learning and
research.

Curtis McGown
Curtis McGown is pursuing a Ph.D. in Sociology, with research interests in mental
health, religion, social psychology, and culture. Curtis also serves as a teaching
assistant in the Department of Sociology, where he supports undergraduate students.
Before coming to USC, Curtis worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor. He holds
a B.A. in Art and an M.A. in Counseling. He enjoys helping graduate students pursue
their academic and professional goals. Outside of work and school, Curtis enjoys good
coffee and SEC football.

Indira Gutierrez Orozco
Indira is a doctoral candidate in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior at the
University of South Carolina, getting ready to graduate this year! She is a first-generation
immigrant and first-generation graduate student who grew up in a low-income household,
has been financially independent since she was 18, and has navigated graduate school
with ADHD. All of these experiences have shaped how Indira approaches her work as
a Graduate Student Success Consultant. One of her favorite things about this position
is getting to meet and learn from so many amazing people from different disciplines,
backgrounds, and walks of life. Indira loves that she gets to help create the kind
of supportive community she wishes she had when she first started graduate school,
where it's okay to not know everything, ask questions, and figure things out together!
Whether you're navigating finances, juggling multiple responsibilities, trying to
find strategies that work for you, or just feeling overwhelmed by everything graduate
school throws your way, she is happy to work through it with you. Outside of academia,
Indira loves boxing, learning languages, watching anime, and playing in One Piece
TCG tournaments (where she may not win, but she will absolutely lose with honor).

student advocacy, and creating supportive spaces where students feel heard, valued,
and empowered to reach their goals.
Ana is currently involved in research examining how counselors approach counseling
and supporting minority students, with a particular interest in culturally responsive
counseling practices and the experiences of students from diverse backgrounds. As
a graduate support staff member, she enjoys connecting with fellow graduate students,
providing support and encouragement, and helping create a welcoming graduate community.
Outside of academics and work, Ana enjoys spending time with the people she loves,
traveling and exploring new places, and finding ways to make others feel supported
and encouraged.
