Bio
Greg Carbone earned geography degrees from Clark University (B.A.), the University of Kansas (M.A.), and the University of Wisconsin (Ph.D.). He started at the University of South Carolina in 1989 and has won university teaching awards for his instruction of weather and climate courses.
Research
Dr. Carbone's research includes climate variability and change during the instrumental period. He is particularly interested in the spatial and temporal nature of extremes, including drought, heavy precipitation, and extreme heat. He applies these investigations to climate impacts associated with water resources and agriculture. Combined with the creation of regional-scale climate change scenarios the work has relevance to climate-related decision making.
