About the Productions
Witch
By Jen Silverman
Directed by David Britt
An inventive retelling of a Jacobean drama, Jen Silverman's sharp, subversive fable
debates how much our souls are worth when hope is hard to come by. A charming devil
arrives in the quiet village of Edmonton to bargain for the souls of its residents
in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target, having
been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town, but her soul is not so readily bought.
As the devil returns to convince her – and then returns again – unexpected passions
flare, alliances are formed, and the village is forever changed. An inventive retelling
of a Jacobean drama, this sharp, subversive fable debates how much our souls are worth
when hope is hard to come by.

The Courage to Right a Woman's Wrongs
By Ana Caro
Directed by Jesse Jou
What if Don Juan had to face the woman he ghosted? And what if she were transformed
into a sword-wielding, powerful opponent? When Leonor decides to become Leonardo and
follow her fickle sometime lover to Brussels, she earns the love of ladies and the
admiration of all, using her wits as deftly as her sword. As the servant Ribete notes,
this world is stranger than any play, but Leonor’s courage will set things to rights.
Written by one of the Spanish Golden Age’s most accomplished female playwrights, Ana
Caro (ca. 1601 - ca. 1645), The Courage to Right a Woman’s Wrongs is a comedy of wild intrigue and lively ingenuity, in which Leonor crosses geographical
boundaries and defies gender expectations in order to bring her fickle lover, Juan,
to justice and restore her lost honor.

Theatre South Carolina embraces non-traditional casting and encourages the casting of ethnic minority actors, female actors, and physically-challenged actors where possible. Individual show directors, together with the artistic director and the acting faculty, make all casting decisions. While some parts may be cast before auditions, that is always the case with guest actors.
