College of Pharmacy Honors Excellence with 2026 Outstanding Alumni Awards


The University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 Outstanding Alumni Awards, recognizing graduates and friends whose leadership, service and dedication have made a lasting impact on the college and the profession of pharmacy. This year’s honorees exemplify the breadth of opportunities available to pharmacists and the powerful influence alumni continue to have on future generations.

 

Tim Slone

Outstanding Alumni of the Year

H. Timothy Slone, M.S., 1984

Tim Slone, M.S., ’84, serves as the global pharmaceutical and biotech risk management, ethics and compliance leader for Boehringer Ingelheim. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Slone has worked across 10 cities, eight companies and 27 roles, helping bring new drugs to market through positions in sales, marketing, finance and global compliance.

A chemistry graduate upon arriving at USC, Slone credits the College of Pharmacy and the mentorship of Associate Dean Farid Sadek with launching his career in the pharmaceutical industry. Slone has remained closely connected to the College of Pharmacy through his mentorship of students, speaking engagements and working to establish a formal experiential rotation partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim.

 

Meg Murphy

Outstanding Young Alumni

Meaghan Freiter Murphy, Pharm.D., 2019

Meg Murphy, Pharm.D., '19, is recognized for her advocacy and leadership in health policy and pharmacy practice. Murphy serves as pharmacy and regulatory affairs director for Surescripts and previously held leadership roles with the American Pharmacists Association. As a student, she was class president, vice president of Rho Chi and a Walker Leadership Scholar, a program she continues to support through mentorship.

Murphy’s career reflects a deep commitment to advancing the role of pharmacists in patient care, from her early policy-focused rotations to leading national pharmacy interoperability initiatives.

 

Jeanette Walker

Outstanding Friend of the College

Jeanette Walker

Jeanette Walker, '55, business education, is honored for her decades-long efforts to support the mission of the College of Pharmacy. An honorary alumna, Walker has been a steadfast champion of scholarships, student initiatives and college events. Together with her family – husband Tony, daughter Donna, her son Brian, all alumni of the College of Pharmacy, and her son, David, who also graduated from USC, has helped build a legacy at the university.

 

Dean Stephen Cutler praised the dedication of the awardees to the college.

“These honorees embody what it means to put service, mentorship and purpose at the center of a career,” Cutler says. “Through their leadership, generosity and commitment to students, they strengthen the College of Pharmacy and demonstrate the lasting impact our alumni and friends have on the future of the profession.”
