As we continue to celebrate 100 years of music at Carolina, we are excited to announce the creation of two alumni awards to be awarded each year starting in this 2024-2025 academic year. The awards celebrate alumni of the USC School of Music who have demonstrated outstanding achievement and service to their profession or their community.

2024-25 Award Winners

The 2024-2025 Outstanding Alumni Award recipient is Martha Shaw, ’99, DMA, conducting, and the 2024-2025 Alumni Community Impact Award recipient is Jerry Gatch, '85, Bachelor of Music Education, '87, Master of Music, and '05, DMA, conducting. The award recipients will be honored and recognized at the School of Music’s Awards Day Ceremony on April 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

We hope you will consider nominating someone for the 2025-2026 year when nominations reopen in the fall of 2025.

Overall Criteria

• Recipients must be a graduate of the USC School of Music.
• Recipients may not receive the same award twice.
• Recipients must meet the criteria of their specific award.
• Recipients must participate in the Awards Day Ceremony unless extraordinary circumstances prevent such participation.

Terms and Conditions

• The School of Music reserves the right to name recipients for all or only a selection of the awards each year.
• Only information submitted as part of a nomination form will be considered; additional independent research will not occur. Incomplete nomination forms will not be considered.
