Voice Student for a Day

Join us on Monday, October 5, 2026

High school juniors and seniors interested in a career in vocal arts are invited to experience a day as a USC School of Music voice student. The event is free and open to prospective students and their parent(s) or guardian(s), as well as choral directors and music instructors. Click here to register.

  • Sample music classes
  • Voice studio class
  • Meet members of the USC Concert Choir
  • Tour of the School of Music

Event schedule:

8:30 a.m. Check In (School of Music Lobby)

Waivers must be submitted by check-in. 

9 a.m. 

Welcome with faculty and staff (Recital Hall, room 206)
Meet our faculty and staff and learn about our various programs and ensembles

9 a.m. - Faculty introductions
9:15 a.m. - Student performances
9:30 a.m. - Student panel

10 a.m.

10 a.m.  - Opera Survey (Prof. Dominic Armstrong)
10:20 a.m. - Vocal Pedagogy (Dr. Serena Hill-LaRoche)
10:40 a.m. - Music Admissions Tour/Info Session of School of Music and Koger (Associate Director Jennifer Mitchell)
11:50 a.m. - Music Theory (Dr. Danny Jenkins, room 006)

12:20 p.m. Lunch Break (room 006)
Bring your own lunch or $10 for pizza
1:10 p.m. Studio Class/Master Class 
Participants will be assigned a studio class and room number at check-in.
2:20 p.m. Concert Choir Rehearsal (Dr. Alicia Walker, room 006)
Observe Concert Choir.
3:40 p.m.

Parent/guardian or designated adult must be present to check out unless self-checkout waiver has been submitted.)
