Middle Level Education, B.A. / B.S.

College of Education

Prepare to support the educational and developmental needs of young adolescent learners in fifth through eighth grades. Students choose two specializations from English, social studies, mathematics and science.

Nationally recognized by the Association of Middle Level Education as one of the best in the nation, our program combines an English and social studies subject matter education with knowledge of traditional teaching practices for grades five through eight. Gain practical teaching experience in middle school settings where you'll integrate the curriculum from your studies.

What You’ll Study

Core courses provide context in which teaching and learning occur and include issues and trends in teaching, schools in communities, a focus on middle level teaching, management and curriculum and classroom assessment. Students in this program choose content-specific specialization courses in English, mathematics, science or social studies.
