Award Requirements

Congratulations, and welcome to the Magellan Scholar community!
This information will help smooth the way as you embark on your research journey, but remember ... don't hesitate to contact the OUR — we are here for you!

Steps to success

*Questions about money? Please see the "Using Your Money" page.

The first three steps are generally done at the very beginning of your grant and typically only once:

  • Complete the CITI Responsible Conduct of Research on-line training. (*NOTE CITI training is valid for 3 years. The completion report can be accessed throughout this time in the CITI system.)

  • Fulfill compliance requirements for projects involving human or vertebrate animal subjects and/or research abroad. See the Application guidebook or Terms and Conditions for more information.

Every semester:

  • Register your project at the beginning of the semester that your grant project period starts, and re-register every semester you work on the project.

  • Maintain consistent effort toward completing your project during the grant period.

At the end of your grant period (depending on your academic year, this might be different than the end of your project):

  • Present your research at one USC-sponsored events: Spring Discover USC (preferred), Summer Poster Symposium, or Fall Showcase. (*NOTE while only one presentation is required for your award, we welcome and encourage students to present while the project is in progress AND at the end, as a way to showcase your experience.)

  • Complete an end of project survey within one month after the grant end date or before granduation, whichever is first. Please refer to the Magellan Scholar Terms and Conditions for the survey link (Student Requirements #6).
