The Carolina Band Drumline is an elite and integral musical component of the Carolina Band and exemplifies its musicianship, spirit and intensity.

The Carolina Band Drumline includes USC students of all backgrounds and majors who desire to perform at the absolute highest level. CBDL rehearses Tuesday through Friday during the fall semester, with an additional hour sectional one night per week. The drumline performs both with the Carolina Band and as a solo entity.

Members are selected through a highly competitive audition process in the spring before each football season. Members participate in all rehearsals and performances and receive a scholarship for their participation in the Carolina Band.

2027 Carolina Band Drumline Auditions

Live auditions for Carolina Band Drumline will be held in the spring. A clinic help session will be held at an earlier date to assist interested students prepare for the auditions, or just to improve as percussionists on their preferred instruments (snare, tenors, bass drum or cymbals).

Students should bring sticks/mallets and a practice pad, if possible.
All clinics and auditions are held at the Copenhaver Band Hall, 326 Sumter Street. 

If you would like to audition and/or attend the clinic session:

1. Complete the registration form (see below) beginning January 1
2. Review all applicable drumline audition materials

*An invitation for membership has no bearing on your initial or continued university admission status. You must be a current USC student, have an accepted admission status or be enrolled in the Midlands Tech Transfer Connect, Palmetto Pathways or Gamecock Gateway Program to accept an invitation to join.

**Members with a consistent summer residence (not a location due to vacation, travel, etc.) within 300 miles of Columbia are required to attend the annual summer kickoff rehearsal held June 5-6. If the home address is beyond 300 miles, members are still highly encouraged to attend. Absences may be requested for students participating in DCI or in internships, summer courses or study-abroad programs required by university courses or directly related to requirements or expectations of their degree program. An unexcused absence from the summer kickoff rehearsal will result in forfeiture of membership in The Carolina Band.
