Dr. Joel Campbell brings a diverse background in business, ministry, and leadership. He previously served as Executive Pastor at The First Baptist Church of the City of Washington, D.C., where he also acted as Chief of Staff and led a $10 million building renovation in the Dupont Circle Historic District as Project Manager. He has also served as Senior Minister at the First Baptist Church of High Point, N.C. and was Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, S.C. In January 2023, Dr. Campbell joined the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law as Program Manager for the Family and Small Business Initiative.

Alongside his wife, Jennifer, Joel co-owned and operated a successful mall-based retail business for over a decade, with locations across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky, and Indiana. They sold the business in 2012.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary at Lenoir-Rhyne University, and a doctorate from North Greenville University, with a concentration in Christian leadership and organizational revitalization. He is currently pursuing a Certificate in Family Business Advising through the Family Firm Institute in Boston, MA.

Dr. Campbell and Jennifer are proud parents to two sons, Jackson and Jance, and share their home with three dogs: a Maltipoo named Maple, and two Jack Russell Terriers, Miffy and Miss Ellie.
