Maya Russell serves as the Assistant Dean for Career & Professional Development and Leadership at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law. In this role, she leads initiatives that support students' professional development, career planning, and leadership growth as they prepare for successful legal careers.

Russell is a past Chair of the Pre-Law Advisor National Council and a past President of the Southern Association of Pre-Law Advisors. Before joining the Rice School of Law, she served as Pre-Law Advisor at Furman University. Her legal experience includes clerkships with the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming and the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. She also taught at Casper College and the University of Wyoming-Casper.

Russell earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law, an M.A. from the University of Montana, and a B.A. from New York University. She is licensed to practice law in Washington, Colorado, and Wyoming.
