Bio:

I am a third-year doctoral student of twentieth-century American popular culture and consumerism. My research focuses on the cultural politics of taste in the postwar United States. In other words, I'm interested in how the production, reception, and categorization of popular culture has defined American life in the post-Second World War period.

I write for a variety of publications with the aim of making history engaging and accessible for a wide audience. You can read my work in Smithsonian Magazine, where I've written features on Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and the rise and fall of theworld’s fair. You can also read my work in Slate, PopMatters, and the Journal of the History of Ideas Blog, where I serve as a Contributing Editor. As a committed public historian, I've interned for the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Fairfield Foundation, and the St. Andrews Heritage Museum and Garden.
